Flightscope Mevo Plus Troubleshooting

Whether you are a pro golfer like me or not, as long as you are a golf enthusiast who relies on technology to enhance your game, the Flightscope Mevo Plus is likely a familiar name. This cutting-edge launch monitor uses advanced 3D technology with sufficient data to help you improve your golf game. Irrespective of how good this device is, there are chances that it will develop some problems.

Common Flightscope Mevo Plus Problems and Solutions

Here are some of the common problems with Flightscope Mevo Plus and how to fix them:

Flightscope Mevo+ is not connecting.

Are you recently having trouble connecting your Flightscope Mevo+? You are not alone; I am here to help.

Connection problems are one of the most common issues that you will likely face with your Flightscope Mevo+, and this can be caused by a lot of things. These connection problems can range from the inability to connect to your WiFi or Bluetooth connection issues. Whatever the case might be, here is a step-by-step guide to fixing it.

SOLUTION

Check your device’s compatibility.

There is a high chance that your device and Mevo Plus don’t have network compatibility. When I first experienced this problem on my Mevo+, I noticed that Mevo+ runs on a 5 GHz WiFi connection (band), so if your device runs on a 2.4 GHz band, there is no way that it will connect.

To fix this, you will need to change the network settings on your device’s WiFi to 5 GHz, or you can reduce the Mevo + band to 2.4 GHz.

Follow these steps to change your Mevo+ to a 2.4 GHz band:

  1. Turn on the WiFi and Bluetooth of the device that you wish to connect the Mevo+ to.
  2. Open the Mevo+ app and go to advanced settings and wifi settings.
  3. On the WiFi settings page, you will see options that allow you to choose either 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz. Although we highly recommend a 5 GHz network due to its reliability for connection and streaming, since you don’t have a compatible device, select 2.4 GHz. This should fix your Mevo+ connection problems.

Troubleshoot connection drops or pairing issues.

In certain scenarios, network bands might not be the problem. Your Bluetooth might be messing up the whole thing, or the problem is with your device.

To fix this, try re-pairing your Mevo+ with your device. If this is not solved, troubleshoot your Android, iPhone, iPad, or whatever device is hosting the Mevo+ app.

Force-close the app on your device and relaunch it. A reset or restart might help too. Try turning off and on your device’s Bluetooth, or you should consider connecting to another device’s hotspot to see if the problem is with your phone or tablet.

Another thing to check is your Bluetooth and WiFi connection. Make sure that your phone’s or tablet’s Bluetooth or WiFi is on and that it is in range of the Flightscope Mevo+. The closer the devices are, the higher the chances of having a reliable connection.

If it still doesn’t connect and you’ve tried turning off and on your device’s Bluetooth and WiFi, then you may need to update the firmware. Find another device with a stronger network connection and switch your connection settings to hotspot instead of wifi for a more reliable connection. If there are any firmware upgrades available, you should receive a notification that states so. Install, check if the problem has been solved, and if symptoms persist, consider contacting customer support.

Flightscope Mevo Plus won’t turn on.

If you’re having trouble getting your FlightScope Mevo Plus to turn on, don’t worry; there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

Firstly, you have to check if the device is fully charged or if the battery needs replacement.

      SOLUTION

Here are steps to troubleshoot all battery and power troubles with your Mevo:

Charging the Mevo Plus and checking battery life

If your Flightscope Mevo Plus won’t turn on, the first thing you should do is try charging the device. If the Mevo Plus battery is low, the device won’t turn on, so you need to charge it.

Plug the Mevo Plus into a power source using the included USB cable and wait for it to charge fully. This may take several hours, so be patient. If the battery is completely drained, it may take a while to turn on even after it’s plugged in.

But what if your Flight Scope Mevo Plus is not charging? What should you do? If the Mevo Plus refuses to charge, then you should check the battery life. Consider a battery replacement if the battery is not good.

In certain cases, Flightscope Mevo+ charging issues can be a Q7 fault. I advise that you contact Flightscope customer support and have them diagnose the issue. If it’s a Q7 fault, you will need to send the device back to the company so that they can change the system board of the affected unit or send a replacement.

Mevo Plus is not reading shots.

Are you experiencing issues with your Mevo Plus not reading shots? If so, read on to learn some quick solutions to this problem.

Mevo Plus not reading shots is a common problem faced by many users, but luckily, some simple troubleshooting tips can help you resolve the issue.

Your Mevo Plus is suddenly not reading because you either have a poor device setup, the unit isn’t registered, poor angle calibration, or system settings.

      SOLUTION

      Proper connection and device setup

Firstly, check to make sure that your Mevo Plus is properly connected to your device. This means ensuring that the Mevo app is properly installed on your device and that the Mevo Plus is properly connected to your device’s Wi-Fi network.

After connecting the Mevo Plus app, check if the app indicates “Ready”. If you can’t see the ready sign on the top right corner of the app, then you need to register the app. Until you register the app, it cannot read photos.

To register your Mevo+ app to fix the inability to read shots issue, follow these steps:

        1. Open the Mevo Plus app and ensure that you are on the home page.
        2. On the top-right corner, click the settings sign.
        3. Click on Flightscope add-ons and select Register your Mevo+

        Calibrate Device Alignment

If device registration didn’t fix the reading issue on your Mevo+, then you should try calibrating the device. Calibrating your mevo+ will address any data accuracy, consistency, interpretation, or distance discrepancies.

It is important to mention that lighting, wind speed, or humidity impact the calibration of your Mevo+. So, you must recalibrate frequently.

Here are some tips for calibrating your Mevo Plus and positioning it correctly:

          1. Update your Mevo+ to the latest firmware.
          2. Take the device outside; outdoor calibrations are better, and you will need to place your Mevo+ 7-8 feet from the hitting area. It is better to have the device positioned straight to your target line, aligned to your hitting area. Better ball-unit positioning will help you achieve more accurate readings of the spin axis, angle of attack, and horizontal launch.
          3. Make sure that the unit and the ball are all on a flat surface.
          4. Measure the distances between the ball and your Mevo+. Go to your Mevo+ > Radar Settings > Outdoors > Radar Setup.
          5. Use the Radar Setup to properly align the ball to the unit, and input the distance length. Use zero as your surface height if you are using a flat surface. For surfaces with elevation, measure them and input the accurate readings. Check your golf balls and input all related data. Use the slow sling mode if you’re using real golf balls.
          6. You can use a drill stick to perfect your target line, but don’t forget to shield your unit from direct sunlight. I noticed that my Mevo+ doesn’t read accurately when there is direct sunlight. You can avoid this too.

Flightscope Mevo Plus flashing red and blue

You can easily troubleshoot your Mevo+ for light flashing if you understand what the lights mean on this device.

            Flightscope Mevo Plus Lights Meaning

Mevo plus flashing Solid green lights mean stable connection status.

Red lights mean no connection or low battery if the flash is coming from the battery indicators.

Yellow lights mean an unstable connection.

Blue lights on Mevo+ mean that the unit is ready for connection.

If your Flightscope Mevo Plus is flashing red and blue, you should know that you need to charge your unit.

            SOLUTION

Connect the unit to a power supply using the supplied adapter and charge for 3–4 hours for a full charge. This should fix the problem.

            Troubleshooting Indoor and Outdoor Use

When I invested in a FlightScope Mevo+, I aimed to improve my game through the accurate data that the unit provides on ball speed, spin rate, launch angle, and other critical metrics that can help me improve my swings.

Little did I know that if I fail to tweak the device for indoor and outdoor use, the device won’t function properly.

To avoid making the same mistake, if you plan to use your Mevo+ for indoor or outdoor use, here are some instructions that you must abide by:

            SOLUTION

            • Use a 7–9-foot distance for outdoors with unrestricted ball flight and a 7–9-foot distance for indoors, but with a 13-foot restricted ball flight. You can use metallic dots for markings.
            • You need adequate lighting for indoor use.
            • Reduce the impact of wind on outdoor use by making use of sheltered locations or waiting till the wind subsides.
            • Direct sunlight can interfere with the Mevo+ readings. Use a sunshade when necessary.

            Device Setup Issues

Are you experiencing issues setting up your FlightScope Mevo+? Don’t panic; you are not alone. Many users have reported difficulties connecting their devices to their smartphones or tablets, and this usually results from poor setup and installation.

            SOLUTION

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to get your Mevo+ up and running:

            • Make sure that your device is fully charged.

The Mevo+ requires a lot of power to operate, so if the battery is low, it may not connect to your device properly. If your device is fully charged and you’re still having issues, try resetting both your Mevo+ and your smartphone or tablet. This can often solve connectivity issues.

            • If you’re still unable to connect your Mevo+ to your device, check to make sure that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. If they are not, connect them to the same network and try again.
            • After successfully connecting the devices, try updating the firmware.

Make sure that both your Mevo+ and your device’s operating system are up to date. You can check for updates in your device’s settings menu.

            • The next step is to perfectly set up your Mevo+.

Your setup depends on whether you are training outdoors or indoors. However, the differences in the setup for indoor and outdoor use are in the calibration; the basic settings remain the same.

Choose the best position for your Mevo+, connect it to a battery pack for extended use, and press the power button on top for a few seconds to turn it on.

Once it’s on, use your PC, tablet, or phone to connect to the Mevo+ hotspot. The Mevo+ hotspot will request a password, which is your serial number.

After connecting to the hotspot, set your tilt and roll. This doesn’t matter whether you are using GSPRO or E6. Adjust your tilt from the part at the back of the unit; use the left and right pins to adjust the roll. Scroll to settings to adjust the sensitivity by setting the sensor to tee-normal, the sensor to tee-chipping, and the sensor to tee-putting.

Finally, check your camera alignment and ensure that it aligns with the middle of the line. Choose your ball type, confirm your radar adjustment, and use outdoors for outdoor use and limited flight for indoor use. Set your distance to the ball and surface height. Use a flat surface for more accuracy.

If after all these steps your Mevo+ doesn’t still come on, try contacting FlightScope customer support for further assistance. They have a team of experts who can help you troubleshoot any issues you may be experiencing.

App-related problems can be frustrating, but with a few troubleshooting steps, you can get back to using your Mevo Plus with ease.

The majority of app-related issues on Mevo+ are due to outdated firmware, glitches, or connection problems.

            SOLUTION

To solve any app-related problems on your Mevo+, do the following:

            1. Update the app to the latest firmware.
            2. Force-stop the app, clear the cache, and restart your phone or device if problems persist. This can clear up any temporary glitches that may be causing problems with the app.
            3. Check your internet connection.

The Mevo Plus app requires a stable internet connection to function properly. If you’re experiencing connectivity issues, try moving closer to your router or switching to a different Wi-Fi network. If your internet connection is fine but the app is still not working properly, try deleting and reinstalling the app.

This can clear up any corrupt files or settings that may be causing issues. Make sure your Bluetooth is on and that the Mevo Plus is in pairing mode. You can do this by holding down the power button on the device until it starts flashing blue.

If none of these steps work, you may need to contact FlightScope support for further assistance. They may be able to diagnose the problem and provide a solution.

            Flightscope Mevo Plus Hard Reset

Performing a hard reset is the final step to resolving any issue with a device and should be considered your last resort for troubleshooting. A hard reset will restore your device to its original factory settings, eliminating any software glitches or other issues that may be causing problems, but it will also clear any settings or saved information you have on the device.

There are two ways to hard reset your Flightscope Mevo Plus device: through the app or the reset button on the device’s camera.

To hard reset your Mevo+ device through the app, you need to open the settings menu by tapping on the gear wheel icon on your home screen.

Scroll down to Help and Support and click Restore Default. The Mevo app will prompt you to make sure you want to do this. Tap Yes if you want to continue. The device will reset automatically.

To hard reset your device using the reset button on the device, you need to make sure that it is fully charged or connected to a power source.

Hold your Mevo+ so that the lens is facing you. Turn the device upside down so that the bottom is facing you. At a 3 o’clock angle on the bottom of the device, you will see a small pinhole. Take your paperclip and press its end into the pinhole for at least thirty seconds, just as you would when trying to switch on your phone through a pinhole.

After doing this, your device’s light will start spinning and blinking. It will restart when the reset is completed. When the reset is finished, the light will start blinking blue, indicating that it’s ready to set up a connection.

            1. Use a flat surface for training and maintain proper alignment between the Mevo+ and target line.
